Oregon State partners with racer for NASCAR Xfinity Series stop in Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Oregon State University is teaming up with Dean Thompson and Sam Hunt Racing for the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) event at Portland International Raceway this weekend.

Thompson will drive the No. 26 Thompson Pipe Group X Oregon State University GR Supra during the only NXS event in the Pacific Northwest. The car will be all orange and black with a number of Beavers logos throughout the body.

Thompson is currently ranked 15th after stepping up to the Xfinity Series just this year. Before this, he spent four seasons in the Truck Series, where he had two top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes.

The race is set for Saturday, August 30, at Portland International Raceway with live race coverage on The CW beginning at 4:30 p.m.
