Shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, a BMW motorcycle was traveling north on Highway 17 toward southbound I-280 when it veered to the left shoulder and struck a concrete bridge railing over the Moorpark Avenue undercrossing, the CHP said in a statement. The impact ejected the rider, who landed on a concrete embankment.
The rider was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:10 a.m. The transition road from northbound Highway 17 to southbound I-280 was closed for about an hour for the investigation.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the motorcyclist’s identity.
The CHP urges witnesses or anyone with information about this crash to contact its San Jose area office at 408-961-0900.
