According to WV Turnpike dispatchers, a shooting reportedly occurred at around 7:20 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Little General Store in the Ghent area of Raleigh County. Just before the incident, the man was reportedly seen acting strange while he was on the phone as he passed through the toll booth.
Turnpike Dispatch stated that members of the West Virginia State Police responded to the incident, and the man was taken to Raleigh General Hospital. How the unidentified man suffered the gunshot wound has not been confirmed by law enforcement. However, witnesses said the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
No additional details or information about the reported incident was released by Turnpike Dispatch at this time.
