ICE detains Kilmar Abrego Garcia again in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, Md. (DC News Now) — Kilmar Abrego Garcia remains held in an unidentified detention center in Virginia, as his deportation is on hold after U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis extended her order blocking his deportation to Uganda until further notice.

She’s concerned there are no assurances from that country that Abrego Garcia would be able to move about there freely.

A media frenzy surrounded Abrego Garcia and his family as they entered the federal building for his meeting with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). His wife left about 45 minutes later, as one of their attorneys delivered the news to supporters.

“Mr. Abrego Garcia was taken into custody by ICE this morning,” said Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, one of the family’s attorneys.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem defended the arrest.

“President Trump will not allow this illegal alien, who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser and child predator, to terrorize American citizens any longer,” Noem said on social media.

Abrego Garcia and his supporters deny the allegations.

“I have come to know how the community has stood up with so much support, and has hugged me with so much solidarity,” Abrego Garcia said through an interpreter.

His arrest followed a brief reunion of the Abrego Garcia family, as he returned to their home in Beltsville, Md. Friday night, just hours after his release in Tennessee, where he faces federal human trafficking charges.
