Salmonella and listeria can cause people to experience symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, according to the FDA. In rare cases, salmonella and listeria can cause more serious health complications like arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation and endocarditis. People who are especially at risk include young children, older adults and pregnant women.

Pets that have contracted salmonella and/or listeria may appear lethargic, have diarrhea, fever and vomiting, according to the FDA. Pets can spread salmonella and listeria to other animals and humans.

People who have purchased any of the recalled products are encouraged to contact Viva Raw by sending an email to info@vivarawpets.com or calling 919-371-8882 for a refund and throw away any of the remaining product while also keeping it out of reach of people, pets and wildlife.
