SCDNR to conduct courtesy boat inspections for Labor Day Weekend around SC

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) will conduct courtesy boat inspections during Labor Day Weekend.

In anticipation of a busy holiday weekend, SCDNR will conduct inspections at public boat landings throughout South Carolina to ensure boaters are safe on the water.

The inspections will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the following locations, according to SCDNR:

Saturday, Aug. 30:

  • Berkeley County: Dennis Landing
  • Charleston County: Limehouse Landing
  • Darlington County: Society Hill
  • Greenwood County: River Fork, Lake Greenwood
  • Horry County: Little River
  • Lexington County: Lake Murray Dam

  • York County: Ebenezer Park, Lake Wylie

Sunday, Aug. 31:

  • Anderson County: Seneca Creek, Lake Hartwell
  • Beaufort County: Battery Creek Boat Landing, Paris Island
  • Charleston County: Buck Hall Boat Landing

Monday, Sept. 1 (Labor Day):

SCDNR states that the inspection should not take long. They also say that they will check for required safety equipment and proper boat and motor registrations.

Usually, SCDNR will ticket those who do not meet the proper safety regulations and registration requirements. For the July Fourth weekend, boaters who are not in compliance will be allowed to correct the problem before they put their boat in the water during complimentary inspections.

SCDNR tells News 2 that their officers will be available to answer any questions and will offer safety tips to boaters.
