On Sunday, the Louisiana State Police reported that the fire in Roseland resulting from an explosion at Smitty’s Supply has been mostly contained.
According to the LSP’s Sunday update, the fire has been 90% contained. They said response crews have worked diligently to strengthen containment and support recovery efforts. Contractors are staged along the Tangipahoa River to trap and recover product released in the explosion.
Louisiana State Police officials said Smitty’s is developing a dedicated claims hotline that will offer information about how to submit claims and address concerns from the community. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
Air monitoring results Sunday showed either non-detectable readings or levels well below concerning thresholds. LSP officials said continuous air monitoring remains in place.
A wildlife hotline has also been established to assist with impacted wildlife reports at 832-514-9663. LSP officials said not to capture or handle impacted wildlife.
