A taste of fall is on the way Sunday as a cold front pushes through, bringing cooler air, gusty winds and the chance for a stray shower.
The day will start partly sunny, but increasing cloud coverage is expected in the afternoon. Highs will only reach the low to mid-70s, noticeably cooler than recent days.
While most areas will stay dry, there’s a slight chance of an isolated shower or two during the evening hours.
A Beach Hazards Statement has been issues for Lake Michigan beaches in Northwest Indiana through 10 p.m. Monday night, with waves of 3 to 6 feet and dangerous currents expected.
Much of the lower 48 will close out the month of August with cooler than normal temperatures, with the greatest temperature deficit in portions of Kansas and Oklahoma. It will feel more like late September or early October in some areas.
Monday and Tuesday morning will feel like Fall across much of the Midwest, and Chicago area. Lows in outlying areas may dip into the 40s, especially Tuesday morning.
