Friday temperatures: Thanks to plenty of clouds and some rain, most of the ArkLaTex has experienced some cooler temperatures on Thursday. That trend will reverse on Friday and this weekend. Lows Friday morning will likely be in the lower 70s. Daytime highs on Friday afternoon will likely return to normal and settle into the middle 90s. We could see more upper 90s briefly return this weekend.
Dry weather returns: If you still need some rain, your hope will end for a few days. Futurecast shows that the rain that has developed today will end this evening. Clouds will gradually decrease on Thursday night. Expect plenty of sunshine on Friday, a mostly clear sky on Friday night, and more sunshine on both Saturday and Sunday.
Long-range outlook: Long-range models are still hinting at a significant pattern change taking place next week. A large upper-level low will move from southern Canada across the Great Lakes. This will allow some cooler air to spread across the eastern half of the country. Next week will begin with plenty of heat as highs on Monday will likely begin in the mid to upper 90s. Highs will likely cool to the mid to upper 80s during the middle of the week. Overnight lows will fall into the 60s over most of the area. The last time Shreveport experienced a high in the 80s was on June 12th.
Models still indicate that we could see plenty of rain next week. The Blend of Models is showing 10-day rainfall totals of one to two inches. A warming trend will likely begin by the end of next week, with highs returning to the 90s and lows warming back into the 70s.
