Man arrested for firing shots into Columbia home

COLUMBIA, Miss. (WHLT) – Columbia police announced a man was arrested for firing shots into a home.

The incident occurred on Broadmoor Avenue around 6:10 p.m. on August 23, 2025.

According to police, Laroncus Conerly was arrested in connection to the shooting within just two minutes of officers arriving at the scene.

“I want to thank each of my officers for their swift response. Without their quick action, there’s no telling how much worse the situation could have become,” said Columbia Police Chief Adrien Fortenberry.

Conerly was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
