1995 Hayward cold case fatal shooting reopened by sheriff’s office

(KRON) — A fatal shooting in Hayward has remained unsolved for more than two decades. Now, the case has been reopened by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office as detectives ask the public for help.

On Monday, Aug. 21, 1995, about 12:29 a.m., Neil Wilson, 31, was shot and killed on West Sunset Boulevard near Royal Avenue in Hayward.

The fatal shooting of Neil Wilson, 31, has remained an unsolved case for more than 20 years.

Witnesses told police they overheard an argument between Wilson and an unknown person moments before the gunshot was fired.

“Witnesses did not see the actual shooting but did observe a small hatchback-type vehicle leave the area without the lights on,” added the sheriff’s office.
