Weekend temperatures: Typically, this time of year, daytime highs are mainly in the middle 90s. We will experience above-normal temperatures this weekend. Expect daytime highs on both Saturday and Sunday to be in the mid to upper 90s. Overnight lows will also be a little above normal in the low to middle 70s.
Lots of sunshine and no rain: Upper-level high pressure will expand over the ArkLaTex from the northwest. This will keep us dry. Futurecast shows that we will see a clear to partly cloudy sky on Friday night. Expect a mix of sunshine and clouds on Saturday. We will stay partly cloudy on Saturday night and should see plenty of sunshine again on Sunday.
Long-range outlook: Cooler air will begin spilling into the ArkLaTex during the middle of next week and will bring an increasing chance of rain. The week will begin with lots of sun on Monday, with temperatures staying in the mid to upper 90s. A chance of rain will return to the northern half of the area on Tuesday. That chance could continue on and off through next weekend. Rain chances will be highest late next week when some heavy rain will be possible. The Blend of models now shows that two to over four inches of rain will be possible over the all of the area.
It will be cooler next week as daytime highs will likely retreat to the 80s and low 90s. Overnight lows will ease into the 60s and lower 70s. We could see temperatures stay near or below normal through all of the following week. This could be a sign that we have seen the last of triple-digit heat this summer.
