Tool thief caught with $5,000 in stolen merchandise in Menlo Park

(KRON) – A suspected tool thief was found with more than $5,000 worth of stolen merchandise, according to the City of Menlo Park.

A concerned resident contacted authorities at approximately 4:53 a.m. on Thursday for suspicious people in the yard of a residence in the 1000 block of Ringwood Avenue. 

Menlo Park Police Department officers responded to the area and located a man in a vehicle with more than $5,000 worth of stolen tools. 

The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Redwood City resident Jose Quintanillaguevara. He was arrested and booked into the county jail.

A second suspect fled the scene and was not found, according to the city.
