MURRAY, Utah (ABC4) — One person was arrested in Murray after SWAT responded to a man barricading himself inside an apartment.
On Friday, August 22, a man, who law enforcement has not yet identified, barricaded himself inside the Miller Estates Apartment. He was reportedly uncooperative after being served an eviction notice. Murray Police Department and a SWAT team responded to the scene to help Constables.
Law enforcement learned the suspect had barricaded himself inside the bedroom of the apartment. They attempted to negotiate with the individual, who pointed a handgun at officers through an open window.
Officers evacuated nearby apartments and used chemical munitions in an attempt to get the individual to surrender, which was unsuccessful. After several hours of negotiations, they were able to gain entry into the apartment.
The individual was eventually taken into custody and was treated for exposure to pepper powder, due to the chemical munitions. He will reportedly be booked into Salt Lake County Jail.
