Rockford family displaced after downed power lines caused basement fire
ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A basement fire left a family in Rockford displaced Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called to the 500 block of Webster Avenue at 11:40 a.m. for reports of a fire and arcing power lines in the area.

A tree limb fell on the lines, which caused the fire, Rockford Fire reported.

ComEd remotely turned off the power going to the home.

The fire resulted in $40,000 worth of damage to the house. The family is being assisted by the Red Cross to find a place to stay.

No one was injured during the incident.
