The crash happened near 1000 E. St. George Boulevard, and according to Sergeant Jeremy Needles with the St. George Police Department, there were no serious injuries.
A four-door passenger car was traveling westbound, waiting to turn left at the intersection, when the light turned yellow and then red.
The motorcycle was traveling eastbound when the motorcyclist “blew through the red light,” Needles said. The motorcyclist came through the intersection as the driver made the turn to travel southbound, and the motorcycle struck the vehicle.
This was a red-light violation, Needles said. The Motorcyclist is “banged up,” but luckily, he was wearing a helmet, so he is alive and “doing well.”
“He’s gonna have some injuries he’s got to deal with for the next while, but he’ll survive,” Needles said.
The adult male driver of the car is also fine, with no injuries or complaints.
Needles concluded with a reminder of the importance to heed a yellow light. “Please stop. If a light turns from green to yellow, that means stop, right? Prepare to stop. Unless you are almost in the intersection, hit your brakes and stop. No sense in blowing through red lights,” he said.
