According to a Saturday news release, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) was asked to help the Pendleton County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) investigate on Aug. 3 after a woman was found dead on Old 3L Highway.
An initial report showed that David O’Hara, 54, had gone to another residence and claimed that a woman named Donna Gibson was dead at a different home on the same highway.
A PCSO deputy reportedly went to the home O’Hara had mentioned and found Gibson’s body inside. KSP was then notified, and investigators were sent.
State police wrote that on the night of Aug. 3, O’Hara was arrested in connection with unrelated warrants and lodged in the Grant County Detention Center. As the investigation unfolded, he was indicted on charges of:
- Murder
- Tampering with evidence
- Second-degree persistent felony offender
The indictment warrants were reportedly served to O’Hara at the jail. He is due to appear in court on Sept. 3. According to court records, he is forbidden from contacting Gibson’s family or owning a gun.
The investigation into Gibson’s death remains ongoing.
