CHICAGO — Passengers on a Las Vegas-bound Air Canada flight made a brief stop in Chicago overnight after the airline said a disruptive passenger forced a diversion.

According to an official from Air Canada, the incident unfolded as passengers on Air Canada flight 1705 were flying from Toronto to Las Vegas overnight on an Airbus A320, with 130 passengers on board.

While the airline did not provide specific details on what exactly unfolded on the plane, officials said the disruptive passenger eventually forced the pilots to divert the plane to Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport so crews could remove them from the flight.

Officials said authorities met the plane’s crew once they landed and removed the passenger from the flight, which re-departed shortly after.

The incident caused about a three-hour delay for flyers.

Authorities have not provided details on whether the passenger is facing any charges.
