Harrison man trespassed from Walmart stores nationwide for stealing arrested again for theft

A man from Harrison who has been trespassed from all Walmart stores nationwide for stealing items there has been arrested again for theft from one of the stores. Fifty-four-year-old John Wesley Loniak was arrested July 30 in Platte County, Missouri and extradited to Independence County Aug. 12 for the theft which occurred in April at the Walmart store in Batesville.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Batesville Police Department, the asset protection investigator for the store reviewed surveillance footage showing Loniak gathering various calculators into a shopping cart. He then allegedly put the calculators into a microwave box. Loniak returned to the store the next day and purchased the microwave which contained the calculators. The affidavit says Loniak left through the automotive entrance with over $2,900 worth of merchandise.

Walmart Asset Protection told Batesville Police Loniak signed a notification of restriction from property in 2021 which bans him from every Walmart store in the United States. They say he is a suspect in numerous thefts from Walmart stores across the country using the same method.

For the incident in Batesville, Loniak is facing felony charges of commercial burglary and theft of property. His bond is set at $25,000.

PREVIOUS ARRESTS

Loniak has four previous felony arrests in Arkansas which date back to 1997 and cover three counties including Boone, Benton and Greene. His charges include commercial burglary, theft of property, theft by receiving and domestic battery.
