Drought restrictions lifted in Catawba-Wateree River Basin

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Catawba-Wateree River Basin is no longer considered in a drought, and therefore all voluntary drought conservation restrictions that were issued on April 1, 2025, have been lifted.

Basin Recovery Lincoln County, like many other jurisdictions in the North Carolina Piedmont, has experienced several beneficial rainfall events over the past several weeks. This has allowed the Catawba-Wateree River Basin to improve from the recent drought.

The Catawba-Wateree Drought Management Advisory Group has issued a statement that the Catawba-Wateree River Basin recovered to Normal conditions on August 18, 2025.
