Baxter County JP Rick Steiner announces bid for 3rd term


Republican Rick Steiner announced his re-election campaign this week for the Justice of the Peace District 3 seat on the Baxter County Quorum Court. Steiner is currently serving his second term and holds committee seats on both the Environmental and Legislative committees, as well as chairing the Building Committee.





Steiner says that tangible results can be seen county wide that demonstrate that local government is working for the citizens.

Economic development in the county has been an ongoing discussion and this year actionable steps have included money allocated for site development for international grocer Aldi’s confirmed plan to come to Mountain Home. Steiner shares where he stands on the issue of the county’s role in these growth projects.

The JP spoke on the sentiment that the county may not be doing enough to provide the same support to long established local businesses.

Steiner has lived in Baxter County for over 50 years. He is married to his wife of 31 years, Melissa Freeman Steiner, a library media specialist at Mountain Home Public Schools. They have one son, Jackson, a graduate of University of Arkansas School of Law. Rick is a Mountain Home High School alumni and has spent his career in the communications industry. He is a member of First United Methodist Church, the Rotary Club of Mountain Home, and was a 25-year member and past president of the Mountain Home Lions Club. In addition to his service on the Baxter County Quorum Court, Steiner served on the Northeast Lakeside Fire Department Board of Directors for over 16 years and served a term as the board treasurer. Steiner is a proud Republican and looking forward to another opportunity to serve the community.
