Shortly after 2 p.m., the Summit County Sheriff’s Office learned that a man was making violent threats against employees at the Sundial Resort. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after members of the public tried to stop him.
According to a news release, the suspect had a motorcycle, and deputies located a motorcycle matching its description at the Blue Roof gas station. Parleys Park Elementary School and the Winter Sports School were placed on lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
However, deputies received word that the suspect was actually at the Park City Medical Center, and they later determined that the motorcycle at the gas station was unrelated to the suspect.
Deputies and officers from the Park City Police Department found the suspect at the hospital and arrested him without incident. Once he was in custody, the lockdowns at both schools were lifted, and they returned to normal operations.
Summit County Sheriff’s Office said that the schools “acted quickly and appropriately” to make sure that students and staff were safe.
Utah Highway Patrol also responded to assist in this case. There is no longer any threat to the community, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said.
