On Friday, Aug. 22, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed that all three juvenile suspects involved have now been arrested and charged. One of the teens already had active warrants for shooting into an occupied dwelling at the time of the incident, they said.
The incident began just after 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 19, when CMPD officers tried to pull over a vehicle believed to be connected to a recent shooting. Instead of stopping, the driver sped away, leading police on a chase that ended at 6700 Beatties Ford Road, near a school.
CMPD said the suspects jumped out and ran, and officers quickly discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day.
Initially, only one juvenile was caught at the scene, but now, CMPD has confirmed all three suspects are in custody. Officers also seized two firearms during the investigation.
