The person who was contagious made stops in Adams, Clearfield, Lancaster and York counties, the Department of Health said Thursday.
If you have been to the following locations during the specified dates and times, the Department of Health said it is possible you may have been exposed to measles:
- Sapp Bros. Travel Center, located at 15196 Clearfield Shawville Highway in Clearfield County on Aug. 5 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- Farmhouse Restaurant at the Barn Resort, located at 75 Cunningham Road in Gettysburg, on Aug. 7 between 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Hickory Falls Entertainment Center, 110 Hickory Lane in Hanover, on Aug. 7 between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.
- Midway Mennonite Reception Center, located at 210 E Lexington Road in Lititz, on Aug. 8 and Aug. 9
- Garber Mennonite Fellowship, located at 6082 Old Hanover Road in Spring Grove, on Aug. 10 between 8:30 a.m. and two hours after the conclusion of services
These establishments have been notified about the potential exposure. The contagious person has left the state.
“The best protection against measles is vaccination,” Secretary of Health Dr. Debra Bogen said. “With two measles, mumps and rubella vaccines, residents are at low risk of getting and spreading measles. People who visited the locations identified should contact their health care provider if they develop signs of sickness; this will help protect others in their communities from this disease.”
Measles, according to the Department of Health, is a “highly contagious illness that is spread when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. The virus remains infectious in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours after the infected person leaves the area.” Symptoms include a fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash that starts on the head and spreads down.
Anyone who believes they have been exposed to measles and is experiencing symptoms should contact their health care provider or call the Department’s toll-free hotline at 877-PA-HEALTH.
