According to a news release, the department recently installed a NaloxBox at the department, making sure anyone has access to the overdose-reversal medication at any time. The department is located at 1075 Parkway Drive in Zionsville.
The NaloxBox is fully funded by Inwell, in partnership with the Overdose Lifeline. According to the release, Naloxone is a nasal spray that “rapidly reverses the effects of an opioid overdose by restoring normal breathing.”
“If supplying free Naloxone saves one person in Zionsville, it is worth it,” Zionsville Mayor John Stehr said in the release. “It’s a highly effective treatment for opioid overdose and provides immediate help when it’s needed most, no matter the circumstances.”
The box’s location in the department was chosen to provide public access in a central and secure setting.
The NaloxBox in Zionsville is part of the statewide network of Naloxone distribution sites. Boxes are also located in Indianapolis, Bloomington, Columbus, Kokomo and Richmond.
