AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man accused of strangling another man at a Lakeway resort in 2020 was sentenced in February after failing to show up to court.

Henry Houston, 59, was initially charged with manslaughter related to the death of 66-year-old Frank Terlip in the parking garage of the Lakeway Resort and Spa.

During the court process for that case, a warrant was issued for Houston’s arrest to bring him before the court because he hadn’t shown up. He then faced a charge of bail jumping and failure to appear, a felony.

A jury found him guilty on that charge in February this year, sentencing documents show. He was given eight years, six months in prison and a $10,000 fine. He received a credit of 497 days in jail. In March, a judge approved an assistant district attorney’s motion to dismiss the manslaughter charge because Houston was convicted in the other case.
