Army Corps of Engineers fix stuck gate at Dardanelle Lock and Dam

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – A stuck gate at the Dardenelle Lock and Dam has been fixed, officials said.

According to a Thursday night update from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the gate had been shut.

Officials said that the issue arose after a routine maintenance process where a gate was opened to release water and debris, but it didn’t close properly on Wednesday morning.

USACE engineers said previously they believed the gate may have gotten stuck due to friction, heat expansion or mechanical binding.
