Animal Welfare League of Alexandria’s ‘Della’ looking for a forever home ahead of National Dog Day

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — National Dog Day is coming up, and the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is highlighting pets in need of a forever home.

One of those dogs is Della, who spent some of her Thursday morning with DC News Now. Della is a friendly, 2-year-old pup looking for a loving family.

Described as an easy-going, laid-back dog, Della is looking for her people and to fit into her forever home.

Shelter officials say National Dog Day serves as a reminder of the many dogs waiting to be adopted in the DMV area. They added that adoption not only saves animals like Della but also opens up space to help others in need.
