The children who are 10, 11, and 12 years old were charged with unauthorized entry of a business. The Baton Rouge Police Department said they are siblings. They were released to the custody of their parent, pending their court date.
On the date of the incident, a report was made by BREC, which stated that multiple juveniles jumped a fence at the pool with guns in hand.
An investigation by BRPD included looking through video, which showed the armed juveniles. BRPD said there appeared to be two guns. A fourth 7-year-old child was seen in the video.
Police spoke with the parent of the children who were arrested in this case. BRPD learned that the guns were actually BB guns that were made to look real. Police said the children had “painted the orange tips black.”
The Howell Community Park pool remains closed.
