PHILADELPHIA (WPHL) — Police are looking for a man accused of assaulting a woman with a glass bottle on South Street last weekend.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers responded to a robbery on the 2000 block of South Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday, August 15. Police said a woman was approached by a man who tried to steal her cell phone from her hands.

Police said that while the victim was fighting back, the suspect hit her on the head with a bottle and pushed her to the ground. The man got away westbound on South Street without taking the cell phone.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

Police are looking for the suspect, described as a man approximately 5’6″ tall.

If seen, police are asking the public not to approach and contact 911 immediately.
