The Wildcats will start the showdown by facing off against Iowa State University on Saturday, Aug. 23, at Aviva Stadium. Aer Lingus, the title sponsor of the event, flew the players, coaches, cheerleaders and band members to Ireland for the game.
K-State said the airline transported 947 pieces of baggage, including 278 pieces of sports gear and 136 band instruments, along with 16 tonnes of cargo from both colleges.
“Aer Lingus is proud to fly the Wildcats and the Cyclones to Ireland for the 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic,” said Susanne Carberry, chief customer officer at Aer Lingus. “We take great pleasure in ensuring that the teams, and their many supporters, experience a warm Irish welcome as they cross the Atlantic to Dublin, where they’ll share the magic of College Football with thousands of supporters at the Aviva Stadium.”
Aer Lingus will premiere a new TV commercial featuring the mascots Willie the Wildcat and Cy the Cardinal during an ESPN broadcast. The commercial is expected to reach millions of viewers in North America.
K-State’s game against Iowa State will be just the second time ever that the Wildcats will play a football game outside the nation. You can learn more about the Aer Lingus College Football Classic by clicking here.
