This year alone, six communities on the Southwest Side made up 60 percent of all the flooding reports in Chicago.
In the 14th Ward, almost 2,000 families have filed reports since July.
On Monday, six alderpeople sent a letter to Mayor Brandon Johnson. They say a multi-funded backflow valve system is the easiest, most cost-effective way to minimize the damage of future flooding.
During a press conference on Tuesday morning, Mayor Johnson acknowledged that the infrastructure needs improvement. He is now waiting on Governor JB Pritzker for state help.
