Power outage forces closure of Bolton Academy

ALEXANDRIA, La. (WNTZ) – Bolton Academy canceled classes Wednesday after a power outage disabled electrical systems and HVAC units across the campus, school officials said.

Administrators said the outage created conditions that were not safe for students or staff, prompting the decision to close school for the day.

The school’s maintenance team began working early Wednesday morning to address the problem, but after assessing the situation, leaders determined the closure was necessary.

Students who arrived by bus were kept in the cafeteria, which was equipped with fans, and remained under staff supervision until parents or guardians could pick them up, officials said.

School leaders apologized for the disruption and said updates would be provided as repair work continues.
