The interstate at US Highway 61, Airline Highway/Carrollton Avenue has fully reopened.
Back in May, both the Carrollton Avenue on-ramp and Airline Highway off-ramp at Exit 232 on the westbound portion of Interstate 10 were closed after a truck collided with a support structure causing severe damage.
According to DOTD data, the Interstate 10 corridor is traveled by over 150,000 vehicles daily, making it one of the “most heavily utilized corridors in the greater New Orleans area.”
Through emergency efforts done by the Boh Bros. Construction Company, the truck was removed, and the bridge’s structure was once again secure.
Repairs were originally expected to be completed by the end of August but DOTD officials said due to good weather and working seven days a week, the repairs were done early.
