HarperCollins Publishers said the new 1.6 million-square-foot hub will create more than 400 supply chain logistics jobs, in addition to generating 375 jobs during the construction phase. It will be located on the west side of the Ronald Reagan Logistics Center.
“HarperCollins has experienced significant transformation and growth over the last 15 years, and now is the time to expand our North American footprint,” said Brian Murray, president and CEO, HarperCollins Publishers. “This state-of-the-art facility is an investment in our authors, our customers, and the future of our business, positioning us for growth.”
HarperCollins publishes approximately 10,000 new books a year and boasted the new facility would leverage advanced technology to improve efficiency and enhance fulfillment accuracy while reducing waste.
The book publisher said the Brownsburg hub will draw upon lessons learned from a recently opened facility in Scotland, where automation is used to increase efficiency, speed and reliability.
“We are thrilled that HarperCollins Publishers chose to build this state-of-the-art facility in Brownsburg,” said Town Council President Travis Tschaenn. “HarperCollins’s investment in our community will bring new, exciting employment opportunities and helps establish Brownsburg as an ideal location for business growth at the international level.”
The new facility is set to open in 2028.
