Blue Cross Blue Shield covers over 2 million Alabamians.
The Baby Yourself in Spanish, Blue Cross is “making maternity care more inclusive, ensuring expectant mothers—regardless of language—can access the education and support they need for a healthy pregnancy,” the company noted in its announcement.
The expansion comes in response to data showing that Spanish-speaking mothers are disproportionately affected by late or insufficient prenatal care. The new app provides trimester-specific updates, educational resources, and direct access to nurses—all in Spanish.
Built-in Spanish-to-English translation also ensures smooth communication between patients and healthcare providers.
The company said the launch underscores its ongoing commitment to expanding healthcare access and supporting diverse populations across the state.
