At 3:33 p.m., 911 calls reported that there was a fire at 8201 Edgemoor Place. AFD said on social media it was on the scene of the fire shortly after.
When fire units arrived at the scene, a man told authorities that his wife was still inside. AFD went inside the residence, located the woman on the bathroom floor and pulled her out. After assessing the woman AFD said they “did not find conditions suitable for life.”
AFD said in its post that one adult was “extricated by AFD from the structure” and was later pronounced dead by ATCEMS medics. The second person, described as an adult male, was taken to St. David’s South Austin with “critical, life-threatening injuries,” medics said on social media.
Shortly before 5 p.m., AFD said the fire was “declared extinguished, contained to the bathroom.” The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the department.
