VINEYARD, Utah (ABC4) — A Vineyard woman is accused of attempting to break her roommate’s neck during an argument in order to kill them, according to documents.
Annika Rayelle Goodrich, 25, has been arrested and is being held without bail for attempted murder and two counts of assault on a peace officer. She has not been formally charged yet.
According to the arrest statement, on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, police were dispatched to a domestic violence incident. Police were contacted and told that Goodrich had attempted to break a victim’s neck.
Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office responded to the apartment and found that Goodrich and the victim were in separate rooms. When deputies made contact with Goodrich, she allegedly stated that the victim “should be dead.”
Due to her statement, deputies detained Goodrich and handcuffed her. They put Goodrich on the couch, at which point she began kicking at the deputies. Goodrich allegedly told the deputies multiple times “that she hated the victim and she wanted to kill the victim.”
Goodrich stated that voices in her head “told her to kill the victim.” Deputies then spoke with the victim, who stated that she and Goodrich were having a verbal argument when the incident occurred.
The victim stated that during the argument, Goodrich grabbed their neck and began “twisting it” and attempting to break their neck. The victim yelled for Goodrich to stop and tried to protect themselves, but Goodrich allegedly continued to grab their neck and twist it.
According to documents, the victim stated that Goodrich “has been physical in the past” but never to the extent that “the victim began fearing for their life.” The victim also reported that Goodrich had previously made statements about wanting to slit the victim’s throat during the night.
Goodrich was booked into the Utah County Jail, and is currently being held without bail pending criminal charges.
