Police investigating double homicide in Vallejo’s Crest neighborhood

VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) — Two men were shot and killed in Vallejo’s Crest neighborhood on Monday night, prompting a police investigation into the double homicide. The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Amelia Street, where one victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other succumbed to injuries at a local hospital.

“Two people did lose their lives and one life is one life too many,” said Sergeant Rashad Hollis of the Vallejo Police Department.

Family and friends of the victims have asked for privacy as they clean the driveway where the shooting took place. Neighbors reported hearing rapid gunfire, with one describing it as lasting about five seconds.

The Vallejo Police Department’s Neighborhood Impact Team has been reaching out to residents, offering support services to help cope with the trauma. Katie Burns from the IHART Project emphasized the community’s role in supporting each other during such incidents.

This incident marks the ninth and tenth homicides in Vallejo this year, compared to 25 homicides reported citywide last year. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with police yet to determine a motive or the circumstances leading up to the incident.
