Man pleads guilty to violent threats at pizza restaurant
The plaintiffs, Ashley Ilene, Brenda Geiger, Tiffany Keller, Janet Guzman, Yodit Yemane, and Emily Scott, said their images were taken from social media and altered to appear as if they were affiliated with the nightclub. All six women are well-known models with large followings and careers tied to major fashion brands, according to the lawsuit.
None of them, the lawsuit states, has ever worked for or been associated with Jamaican Flava. They claim the unauthorized use of their photos has damaged their reputations and cost them financially.
The club’s owners are accused of using the altered images on social media to promote the venue and attract customers. The lawsuit includes claims of false advertising, misappropriation of likeness, defamation, and unfair business practices, among others. The models are asking for damages and a permanent ban on the use of their images.
In the latest update to the case, the court approved a motion allowing New York-based attorney John V. Golaszewski to represent the models in North Carolina court.
According to online records, Jamaican Flava is now permanently closed. This case is ongoing.
