Masked robbers use truck to ram jewelry store in violent Oakland robbery

(KRON) — Eight masked robbers rammed their way into an Oakland jewelry store using a truck and held the owner at gunpoint Monday night, according to a fundraiser. The Oakland Police Department confirmed that officers arrived on the scene just before 1:45 p.m. in the 700 block of International Blvd. on a report of a robbery.

Arriving officers observed significant damage to the front of the business. identified in the fundraiser as Kim Tin Jewelry. OPD said an employee told them a vehicle had been used to ram the store. Armed individuals then entered the store and stole items before leaving.

The vehicle used in the ramming, described in the fundraiser as a large truck, was also left at the scene, police said.

According to the fundraiser, the owner was held at gunpoint, injured, and lost everything in the robbery. His shop has been destroyed beyond repair. His family has launched the GoFundMe to cover his medical costs and help him rebuild.

“We are lucky that my father is still alive and that he was the only one in the building at the time,” said the owner’s son. “He sustained injuries from this incident while the store was left in even worse condition, being destroyed beyond repair.”
