Man dead, another injured in South Philadelphia shooting
(WPHL) — Philadelphia Police are investigating a shooting in South Philadelphia that left a man dead and another injured.

According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, police received numerous 911 calls of a shooting just after 11 p.m. in the 600 block of Mountain Street.

Police located two shooting victims at the scene.

A 23-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He was rushed to Jefferson Hospital, where he is in stable condition, police say.

The second victim, a 37-year-old male, was lying on the sidewalk with multiple shots throughout his body. He was rushed to Jefferson Hospital, where he later died at 12:12 a.m.

Chief Inspector Small said they found a crime scene with over 30 spent bullet casings from a semi-automatic weapon or weapons.

All the bullets were found on the sidewalk. Police also located a semi-automatic handgun in the parking lot.

At this time, police do not know the gun’s owner or who was in possession of it.

Police do not have a description of the shooter or shooters, and don’t have a motive.

Numerous homes in the area have surveillance cameras, which police will be using.
