BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana is set to get a $194 million grant from the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
On Tuesday, United States Senator Bill Cassidy announced that $171,468,901.69 of the grant will support recovery and emergency preparedness after Hurricanes Laura and Ida, the 2016 flood, and the 2023 Tiger Island Fire. As part of Cassidy’s Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, $23,155,398 would support airport improvements.
“Louisiana is no stranger to storms, floods, and even wildfires. Recovery takes resources. This funding rebuilds schools, repairs hospitals, and restores the infrastructure families count on,” said Cassidy. “At the same time, when people come to Louisiana, their experience often begins at a local airport. These improvements will make that experience even better.”
