Curtis’ Patriots have won 28 state championships on the field and 27 officially. Last year, the weather forced John Curtis to move their week one game against nationally ranked Rabun Gap to the Superdome.
The Eagles won the contest, 27-12, but the opportunity to play a regular-season football game in the Superdome was second to none. Rummel followed with a 42-35 win over Lafayette Christian.
“It’s a magnificent place to play and a magnificent facility. As I said, it provides memories for a lifetime for those kids,” said John Curtis head football coach J.T. Curtis.
Fast forward to the 2025 season, and the Superdome will host a week two doubleheader that will feature both University Lab vs. Rummel and a top-25 matchup between American Heritage (Fla.) and the Edna Karr Cougars.
The games will take place on Friday, September 12th, with Rummel playing at 6 p.m. and Karr taking the field around 8:30 p.m.
J.T. Curtis talked regular-season football in the Caesars Superdome this week in the WGNO Sports Zone as the team gears up for Season 34 of WGNO’s Friday Night Football.
The first show is this Friday at 11 p.m. on Nola 38, the CW. The replay is set for midnight on WGNO.
