Johnson Announces Re-election Bid, Citing 13 Years of Service and Continued Goals

Baxter County Assessor Jayme Nicholson Johnson announced Monday that she will seek re-election in 2026.
Johnson has served as county assessor for 13 years. She also oversees the 911 GIS addressing office, a responsibility added to her role in 2020. During her tenure, Johnson has expanded access to property records and implemented updated technology in both offices.

“I am always looking for a better way to serve the public,” Johnson said. “Our office works to provide accurate, fair and equitable appraisals, assessments and 911 addressing, so residents can be located in an emergency.”

Johnson served on the Arkansas Assessors Association Board from 2015 to 2021. She was elected secretary/treasurer in 2016 and 2017, vice president in 2018 and 2019, and president in 2020 and 2021. She was named Arkansas Assessor of the Year in 2018 and was re-elected to the association board for a term beginning in fall 2025. She also serves on the Association of Arkansas Counties Legislative Committee.

Johnson has completed more than 400 hours of continuing education in appraisal and assessment through the International Association of Assessing Officers.

She is married to Steve Johnson of Johnson Custom Homes and has two daughters, one grandson and a granddaughter expected later this year.

Johnson said she is grateful for the opportunity to serve and appreciates the support of Baxter County residents.
