Written from announcement e-mail:

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana University’s School of Education has permanently closed its Advocacy and Belonging Office — formerly known as the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion — as part of the university’s efforts to comply with recent state and federal directives on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programming.

The closure, effective Aug. 15, also eliminates the position of Assistant Dean of Advocacy and Belonging.

The move comes as Indiana and other states have restricted DEI programming at public universities, prompting IU to restructure offices and initiatives previously dedicated to equity and inclusion.
