The Fairfax County Police Department said on Aug. 14 at around 10:30 a.m., detectives were patrolling when they came across a stolen car in the 6000 block of Richmond Highway in Groveton.
They went up to the car and identified the driver as 23-year-old Nathan Temesgen. He was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives found a loaded gun in the car.
Officials then determined that Temesgen is a convicted felon and is prohibited from having any guns or ammunition.
He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Temesgen was charged with Grand Larceny Auto, Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition and Petit Larceny.
