Arkansas State Police officials said the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible plane crash two miles south of Bradley at 9:30 p.m. on Monday.
At 3:30 a.m., authorities said an ASP helicopter found the wreckage of the plane in a remote, wooded area before first responders arrived on the scene at around 5:15 a.m.
State police confirmed that the plane, a 2021 Lancair Super Barracuda, left from Austin, Texas, and was traveling to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
State police said the pilot, who was the only person on board, was identified as 54-year-old Barry Boes from Ooltewah, Tennessee. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
ASP officials said the investigation into the crash has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
