BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The FAR Center for Contemporary Arts has announced a slate of fall programming, including exhibitions, workshops, and a call for artists, as the new semester begins.
The current exhibition, Groups Collective by Jon Tonks and Roman Franc, features large-format film portraits of community groups around Bloomington. The show runs through Aug. 29 at Pictura Gallery.
On Aug. 20, FAR will host the FAR Photo Review via Zoom from 7 to 9 p.m. The free session previews a photography exhibition set to open at the center in December. Interested participants may email farphotoreview@thefar.org for details.
A Gallery Walk opening reception for The Geoglyphs of Our Time by Lorenzo Poli will take place Sept. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 202 S. Rogers St. The series explores the impact of resource mining in South America.
Pictura Kids will return Sept. 6 with a free workshop, Topographic Drawings, led by art educator Ms. Hilary. The session, scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon, will guide children in creating artwork inspired by Poli’s series. Registration is required.
In addition, the FAR Center is accepting submissions through Sept. 7 for a Hispanic Heritage Month exhibition, scheduled to open Oct. 3.
