Christmas Tree Lane is set to open for its 103rd year beginning early December through Dec. 25. However, unlike previous years, the Fig Garden Homeowners Association has decided to suspend Walk Nights.
Officials said the reason for the Christmas experience suspension was due to the “popularity and growth” of Walk Nights, which have made it “nearly impossible for our small group to put on in a way that ensures the safety of the 35,000 people who attend, and that of our neighborhood.”
In April, the homeowners’ association released its Spring 2025 newsletter with a section detailing the issues that Walk Nights had brought to various residents. At the time, the HOA added that the experience would be canceled unless the city or the county stepped in.
The main issue cited in the newsletter was street vendors; in the letter, the homeowners’ association denounced that the vendors had “taken positions on residents’ private property, blocked driveways and side roads, and have been aggressive to residents who asked them to leave.”
Officials said the decision was made with “very heavy hearts,” but that their “commitment to our neighborhood and the greater Fresno community is unchanged as we work to fill the lane with lights and the spirit of Christmas for the 103rd time.”
